Take this medication exactly as your doctor prescribed to you. To adults and children over 12 years 1-2g of PEO is prescribed once a day, or every 12 hours. In patients with severe life-threatening infections the maximum daily dose is 4g. In this case PEO is administered to the patient every 12 hours intravenously, duration of infusion is 30 minutes. Use only freshly prepared solutions for injections. Solution can be stored in refrigerator at 35-34 ºF not longer than 24 hours. For intramuscular injection dissolve 1g of PEO in 3.5 ml of 1% lidocaine. Do not inject more than 1g of PEO in one buttock. For intravenous injection dissolve 1g of PEO in 10 ml of physiological solution for injection. Inject the solution slowly, during 2-4 minutes. Duration of treatment depends on severity of the infection but the treatment should continue for at least three days after disappearance of symptoms.
PEO is prescribed cautiously to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins, because cross allergy is possible. In patients with renal-hepatic insufficiency correction of dose is required. To pregnant patients PEO is prescribed when possible threat to mother is higher than one to the baby. Stop breastfeeding if you have to take PEO.

Ceftriaxone and aminoglycosides strengthen each others’ action against many gram-negative bacteria. Simultaneous use of high doses of ceftriaxone and “loop” diuretics such as furosemide can lead to renal dysfunction. There is no evidence that ceftriaxone increases the nephrotoxicity of aminoglycosides. Probenecid has no effect on the excretion of ceftriaxone. Ceftriaxone solution is incompatible with solutions which contain other antibiotics (do not mix it with other antibiotics during preparation of solution and in the infusion).
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms may include muscle spasms, seizures.
